Clotted Cream Cottage Extra Information

The cottage is most suited to families and couples who want to enjoy the peace and quiet of a very rural location in the knowledge that they are only minutes from Dartmouth itself and the beautiful Start Bay coastline. We do not accept stag or hen parties and ask that all guests are respectful of their surroundings and our neighbours.

Rural cottage Dartmouth Devon

Clotted Cream Cottage is located next to a working dairy farm and with this comes the usual countryside smells, noises and insects. Whilst every room is cleaned at each guest changeover, we cannot completely eradicate flies and spiders, so guests that really dislike these intruders should be aware of this. There will also be heavy farm traffic passing on occasions.

The property has steps inside - both leading up from the living room to the bedrooms on the first floor. There is also a couple of steps from the landing to the master bedroom and bathroom. There are also steps leading from the outside lane to both the front and back doors and further steps from the cottage into the garden. It is therefore vital that guests can climb steps and very young children will need to be supervised. Unfortunately this cottage isn't suitable for anyone with mobility issues.

There is no handrail on external steps and around the raised decking areas. There is post and rope surround.

Guest using the annex should be aware that it required stepping outdoors to cross the small back courtyard and up steps to reach the converted space above the garage. There are no ensuite facilities in the annex.

There is driveway to park on at the cottage. Guests are able to park standard sized vehicles on the grass triangle at the front of the cottage or in the lane adjacent to the hedge. Clear signage is provided inside the cottage to show exactly where to park to avoid blocking the lane for passing farm traffic.

There is an open fire in the living room and guests are welcome to bring logs to use on it. All children should be supervised around the fire.

The cottage had hard wood floors throughout.

The garden and meadow are as secure and dog proof as is practical however, we cannot guarantee that determined four legged friends may get out. We recommend supervising dogs in the garden.

Hot tub Private garden countryside retreat Clotted Cream Cottage Family Dog friendly accommodation holiday let South Hams Start Bay hideaway

The property has a Hot Tub in the garden for guests to use. Any guest wishing to make use of the Hot Tub must fully read and comply with the usage Instructions. There is an additional fee of £100 for use of the hot tub during a stay to cover for servicing and treatment prior to the stay as well as the additional energy costs to keep it running. Should a guest require the Hot Tub, they should specify at the time of booking and the additional fee will be charged.

If guests would like the Hot Tub to be fully emptied, cleaned and refilled prior to their arrival, this can be arranged only when the booking is made at least 7 days in advance and will be subject to a one off fee of £95. This is because it takes 5 hours to fully empty and refill.

We hope that guests appreciate that whilst this is a lovely added bonus of the property, it does come with its own unique health & safety risks. Guests must understand that the use of the Hot Tub is entirely at their own risk and the owners will not be held liable in any way for any injury, illness or death caused by use of the Hot Tub.

Long exposures at warm temperatures can cause high body temperature. Symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, fainting, drowsiness, and reduced awareness, resulting in possible drowning. Prolonged immersion in a spa may be hazardous to your health

• Never use glass in/near the hot tub as broken glass can cause a risk to people with bare feet and is very difficult to see within the hot tub water
• If the water becomes dirty which in turn clogs up the heater pump then the hot tub may cut and not working correctly. If this happens, you must notify us immediately and stop using the hot tub.
• Take care on the decking as water from the hot tub can cause it to be slippery
