Oak Tree Lodge is located next to a working dairy farm and with this comes the usual countryside smells, noises and insects. Whilst everywhere is cleaned at each guest changeover, we cannot completely eradicate flies and spiders, so guests that really dislike these intruders should be aware of this. There will also be heavy farm traffic passing on occasions.
The property has steps from the outside leading to the front door. There is also a curved staircase going from the lower level to the upstairs. This staircase has open threads. Unfortunately this lodge isn't suitable for anyone with mobility issues.
There is single handrail on external steps and the upper floor has a glass balustrade.
The hot water and heating in the lodge is powered by calor gas bottles. In the unlikely event that the gas runs out during your stay, it may be necessary to change the regulator on the gas bottles.
There is driveway to park on at the lodge. Guests are able to park on the slope leading up to the grounds of the lodge, under the shade of the 300 year old oak tree. We kindly request that no vehicles are brought any closer to the lodge than here as it can cause the grass to become rucked and guests run the risk of getting stuck - particularly if the ground is wet.
There is a small log burner in the living room and an outdoor fire globe and guests are welcome to bring logs to use on it. All children should be supervised around the log burner and fire.
The lodge has hard wood floors throughout.
The lodge is located in the grounds of Clotted Cream Cottage although positioned in such away that the privacy of both properties is maintained. However, its possible that guests staying in the cottage will be visible when in the garden meadow by guests in the lodge.
