Bath’s exceptional food and drink scene has gained the city a reputation as a delectable destination for a foodie break.

Take your pick of menus from elegant restaurants  to welcoming gastropubs and cosy cafes both in the city centre and in the surrounding countryside – some of which host live music.

Bath also has its fair share of chilled out bars, thriving local producers and passionate artisans.

Green Park Brasserie



Green Park Brasserie is a popular independent live music restaurant specialising in locally sourced food with free live music four evenings a week. Specialising in steak from local farms, the Brasserie produces a seasonal menu including burgers, buttermilk fried chicken, Cornish fishcakes, ribs, pastas, salads and more. Set in the former 1800’s railway station (Green Park Station) it offers a unique dining experience. 

Menu Gordon Jones



One of the most exclusive eateries in the city, the multi award-winning Menu Gordon Jones operates only a surprise tasting menu, chosen by head chef Gordon Jones. Flavour is guaranteed, with a mixture of English, Indian and Asian cuisines. You can also opt for the restaurant’s wine flight, where each dish is accompanied by a glass of suitable wine. 

The Herd



An exclusive eatery serving only the finest British steaks, The Herd is the perfect place for a classy carnivore to enjoy a great meal. All of the meat is taken from Aberdeen Angus and Hereford Crosses cows, which are raised in Coulston, just 20 miles from the family-owned restaurant. As well as sirloin. T-bone and fillet steaks, the menu features other dishes including rack of lamb and pan friend salmon, with an assortment of sides and desserts, as well as an extensive wine list.



The Olive Tree



As Bath’s only Michelin star restaurant, if you can secure a reservation at The Olive Tree then you’re doing well. Using only the finest local ingredients, chef Chris Cleghorn has put together a fine menu of British cuisine. Dishes such as lamb rump, plaice and duck are served on a range of evening menus – or you can simply enjoy a lunch dish from Friday to Sunday. 

The Ivy Bath



The Ivy Bath Brasserie & Garden brings relaxed, sophisticated all-day dining to the heart of Bath. Just minutes away from must-see sights such as Bath Spa, Bath Abbey and the ancient Roman Baths, the restaurant is the perfect location for visitors and locals alike to enjoy modern British cuisine, café-style classics and fantastic vegan and vegetarian dishes. The main restaurant is a beautiful place to relax, with high ceilings and original features complemented by a striking bar and sumptuous Art-Deco detail.

Comptoir & Cuisine



When four French and Italian friends opened their first champagne and cheese bistro in London in 2011, they hardly expected the success that would follow. Now an established brand with eateries across the UK, Comptoir + Cuisine has lost none of its original charm. Their Bath bistro still focuses on “fromage”, with baked camembert, charcuterie boards and more all washed down with top quality champagne. The Bath location also has a shop and a champagne bar, which is open till late.



The Giggling Squid



Bright and airy with a backdrop of gorgeous florals,  the Bath Giggling Squid restaurant offers a stylish but friendly and welcoming setting in which to enjoy an authentic, bold-flavoured Thai feast, fresh off the wok!

Located in the heart of Bath town centre, near the Theatre Royal its perfect for pre-show meal. The famous Roman Baths and Bath Abbey are less then a five minute walk away. 

Noya's Kitchen



Judged Best Restaurant in Bath in 2022, Vietnamese-born Noya combines her culinary and artistic backgrounds to create authentic, home-made and beautiful Vietnamese dishes.

Noya runs her sell-out Supper Clubs on Friday nights: a fun, informal dining experience with a set menu of five delicious courses. Everyone eats at the same time and you’ll discover what’s on the menu when Noya introduces the dishes in person on the night.

Rooted Supper Room



Rooted is a family-run, multicultural vegetarian café situated in the beating heart of Bath. With a focus on sustainability, the menu is highly seasonal, making sure that locally sourced ingredients can be used all year round. Classic dishes including mac & cheese, Thai spiced burger and lentil cottage pie can be enjoyed throughout the day, whilst the café also does brunch until 3pm, including a Full Indian Breakfast.
